Poetry Story 5

A shift in movement
*Snap* sudden instant no echo to be certain
Mental check had she just heard that?
Her body had jolted up
A betraying gasp let loose her location
The night was young, still, not enough
Recovery would require longer rest.
Her eyes were of no help
The darkness was not her friend.
Not anymore.
Her eyes no longer felt heavy the wariness blasted out of her.
She slowly, soundlessly, lifted herself onto her feet.
Without another thought she made friends with darkness.
She slipped into it.
