Worth

You get angry when I’m upset,
You get angry at me, not for me,
Paranoid, over-sensitive, selfish, lazy
Are your labels for me,
You ask of me something
A parent should never ask
When I say no
You never see why I said it
You read my reasons
you grow further from understanding
Just put me down to meanness
Watch as your meanness
Makes my worth shrink
The constant need to protect one child
Over the older child
He is never leaving
But I will
He will grow old, have family,
In that house,
I won’t – you pushed me again
Only this time I have someone
Who gets angry when I’m upset
Who gets angry for me
This someone will stand ground with me
Support me
My worth grows with that someone
